What is your title and role?:
I am a Talent Development Specialist and I work with job seekers to help them build skills and connect them to resources that can assist them in finding a self-sufficient career.
Brief description of what you do and the program you are in:
As a Talent Development Specialist, I provide assistance to individuals to help connect them to quality, self-sufficient employment. This includes providing career coaching, job readiness workshops, resume building and review, and potentially even helping with securing funding for occupational training within a high demand industry. We work within 5 in-demand sectors that include Business/IT/Finance, Healthcare, Advanced Manufacturing, Skilled Trades, and Transportation and Logistics.
What inspires you about the work that you do?
I really enjoy working with individuals and families to help them achieve their goals and obtain long term careers with excellent pay and benefits. It is extremely rewarding to witness people succeed and that is what keeps me going on days that are challenging.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I really enjoy spending time with my family outdoors whether that be hiking, fishing, or playing disc golf. I also play on a Coed Indoor Soccer Team (S/O Game of Throw Ins), am the Goalkeepers Coach for Grant County High School Boys Soccer, and officiate at the Youth Soccer level.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about helping individuals and my community in any way that I can. I have worked in this field for over 15 years and enjoy being able to help strengthen individuals, families, and in turn our communities.
What is your personal motto?
I LOVE Dr. Suess so I would say that my personal motto would be from the Lorax, “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better, it’s not.” –The Lorax, Dr. Suess.
