I started volunteering when Brighton Center was started in 1966. I am impressed with the way they help their customers become more independent and more reliant on themselves.
The Center for Employment Training is wonderful. Overall, I am proud to say I am a volunteer there because of all the good work they do. It is a very caring place.
When Brighton Center was first formed, I never imagined it would become the great place it is today—there are so many programs to help people. When I volunteer, I enjoy helping people select items they need and giving them a smile to show them I care about them. I feel really good knowing I am helping people.
The memory of my involvement that stands out most was in 1967. A group of us went to Frankfort KY and met Governor Ned Breathitt and got to sit and listen to him.
Since I began volunteering, I have seen changes. Programs have evolved and things have grown so much under the leadership of Bob Brewster, yet there is still so much love and care for people.
I love volunteering here. I see all the good things that happen and I want to be a part of it. I am proud to be able to volunteer with so many wonderful people.
If you don’t know about Brighton Center, thank God for a place like it. They are the most caring, loving people in this field of work. It is a place to help you to help yourself. They want you to make good choices for you and your family.
